King Kong heading for Bangkok

HUSS Park Attractions is to reveal a totally new ride concept at the IAAPA Asian Expo in Bangkok, with an official launch date set for the end of 2007.

Featuring a single gondola designed for up to 24 passengers, King Kong is the latest family ride to be added to the HUSS range and features a variety of newly engineered movements, a highly themed exterior and surroundings and numerous special effects. It has been developed in conjunction with animation and theming specialist Heimo animated attractions Mordelt GmbH and Co. KG and takes its influence from the King Kong film.

Riders enter the gondola at ground level and, as the ride begins, the King Kong figure appears to grab the vehicle and then stand upright before slowly 'shaking' it. As the ride cycle continues, the gondola pauses directly in front of King Kong's head as it is lifted to its maximum height, at which time a variety of special effects are triggered - including sound and mist - with the gorilla's eyes shining in a vision of crazed anger.

King Kong has a height of 40ft/12m and an overall footprint of 27ft. x 33ft/ 8m x 10m. Using the single gondola, hourly capacity is approximately 500 and the allowable rider height is 1.0m to 1.95m. The gondola features bench seats with a single safety restraint on each one.

King Kong has been chosen as the initial theme for the new attraction and this will be the standard version to be made available when the ride is officially launched at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, Florida, in November.

Other theming concepts are open for discussion with HUSS. Pre-show areas can also be incorporated into the attraction on request, with custom-built design according to the wishes of the client.
